A Moon in June - Camp Kowana Tale

The two spirits always enjoyed themselves at this time of night under a moon, a few hours before dawn, down in the swimming hole at Camp Kowana. You see, long ago dead - and - died spirits such as Flapjack Sam and Weezer Rumson can splash and cavort naked to their eternal hearts content 'cuz their spirit bodies make no sound or appearance. All the musician and dancing friends at the Ferrys would likely never hear the frolicking old timers anyway, even if they could, as everyone.... even down to the last dog-tired dog... was snoring and grinning away with sweet mountain-induced dreams after an exhausting and revitalizing day.

Flapjack says to Weezer, who can float on his back while balancing a bottle of brew on his belly (while a minnow swims right through his invisible body)".. You know, 'ol Weez, sometimes I git to missin' havin' an earth-bound shape and dancin' and singin'. Today after watchin' all the families and friends of Richard and Lynn... there still can be a little bit of heaven on earth!"

These two swimming hole mates lay on the bank in silence, watching the stars that they had seen when they both met in the Sierrra foothills when California was a pup. Both dead from leaving footprints in the dirt with the boots they wore in these hills since the early 1900's, they have remained has partners in the spirit world and could never take to leaving these endearing, quiet canyons.

Then,Weezer dovetails a philosophical remark to Flapjack's comment, "I believe your speakin' truth, Sam, I'm believin' this tired ol' world has got some chances, some hope. When I saw today young ones laughin' with their folks, old folks givin' another go to learn another dance, music makin' all hours, some sad songs that somehow lift you up, other happy love songs that bring on a tear from a thought long ago. Watchin' them bring their joy and kindness and refresh themselves here in the rocks and trees. I'm believin' they'll go back in good spirits, with good souls... and do the same as us when their time comes".

"Right smart thinkin', Weez." said Flapjack, while adding on a bit of his own, "...Camp Kowana ain't always just right here on Richard and Lynn's acreage... everyone takes a bit of it back home and spreads it around. When folks can, they come back and refresh. Like me 'ol buddy, care to go in for another swim before daybreak?"
